Solo

“His music is very "REAL". That is to say it is deeply honest, sensitive, humorous, and adventurous.” Bobby Shew.

Unheard of monologue! Matthias Schriefl’s solo program consists of free improvisations, own compositions, Jazz-standards, Pop hits and Alpine folk melodies. The Schriefl solo program consists of free improvisations, own compositions, Jazz-standards, Pop pieces and Alpine folk melodies…
… Matthias Schriefl plays trumpet and tube, bass-fluegelhorn and Alpine horn. He is also a baritone-vocalist, beat-boxer, sound researcher and owner of a multitude of instruments for which an extensive research is still waiting. A performance of this kind with a combination of melodious and traditional sounds, let one’s fantasy thinking of a chewing alpine cow, pulling an East-European streetcar loaded with a New Orleans Brass Band plus Justin Biber and Miles Davis marching behind, together with dancers from India. Many of these pieces were composed by Matthias Schriefl while staying in a high altitude of 2000 meter and inspired by ancient Alpine folk songs and low oxygen. They are full of bizarre ideas, but despite a wide theoretic background remain with each sound and gesture anti-elite and full of passion.

“Expect the odd reggae beat and high-altitute New Orleans funk riff.” Sunday Times
